Liquid Penetrant Testing - 8hr Hands on Training

This 8-hour Liquid Penetrant Inspection (PT) course delivers the real-world, confidence-building skills inspectors need to perform accurate and reliable surface inspections in the field. Students gain detailed, hands-on experience performing Method A (water-washable), Method C (solvent-removable), and Method D (post-emulsifiable) penetrant techniques, while learning how penetrant type, removal method, dwell time, and Form A, Form D, and Form E developers directly affect inspection results. Whether you’ve completed PT training with limited hands-on exposure or it’s been some time since you last performed penetrant inspections, this course bridges the gap between theory and application. Students leave with a strong understanding of inspection parameters, proper reporting requirements, and clear, compliant documentation, ensuring they can confidently apply PT techniques and produce professional inspection reports on the job.

In this course, we cover:

• •Through practical exercises, students learn to identify and interpret real surface-breaking discontinuities such as cracks, porosity, laps, seams, and lack of fusion, as well as understand how defect orientation, size, and shape influence indication appearance. The course emphasizes defect sizing, evaluation of relevant versus non-relevant indications, and inspection of components in both fabrication and in-service conditions. Students also perform required in-service penetrant process checks, including system performance verification, lighting verification, and control of essential variables in accordance with applicable standards.

Upon completing this course, students will be able to:

• •Apply Type I & II Method Penetrants with various removal methods (A, C, & D)
• •Perform in process checks. (Using refractometers, Pressure & Temp Gages, Tam Panels, Developer checks)
• •Create and Document inspections to various codes and acceptance criterias.

The course includes 8 hours of hands-on training. Upon successful completion, participants will receive 8 total hours of accredited classroom training and a Classroom Certificate, with knowledge assessed through an exam.
