Radiography I & II -16hr Hands on Training

This 16-hour Radiographic Testing course provides the hands-on, practical training inspectors need to work confidently in the field. Students gain real-world experience clearing dosimeters, setting up and connecting radiography cameras, building exposure setups, and making belts for a variety of inspection scenarios, while reinforcing essential radiation safety practices. The course covers basic exposure calculations, multiple exposure configurations, and hands-on film handling—including loading, processing, and working with spool film—as well as learning to identify different film speeds and understand how film selection impacts image quality. Whether you’re coming from online training without hands-on experience or refreshing foundational skills, this course bridges the gap between theory and application, delivering the confidence and competence required of a Radiography Level I inspector.

In this course, we cover how to:

• •Read a Survey Meter
• •Clear a Dosimeter
• •Run A barricade
• •Hook Up a Radiographic Device
• •Create Belts for RT Exposures
• •Set up Different Exposures
• •Load and Run Conventional Film utilizing Different Drying Techniques
• •Choose the correct IQI
• •Determine Geometric Unsharpness
• •Use a multi-load cassette
• •Perform Exposures using an X-ray Tube
• •Review film in accordance with ASME Requirements

Upon completing this course, students will be able to:

• •Safely perform essential radiation safety tasks, including reading survey meters, clearing dosimeters, and establishing controlled barricaded areas
• •Properly set up and connect radiographic devices, including cameras and X-ray equipment
• •Create exposure belts and configure multiple exposure setups for different inspection scenarios
• •Load, handle, and process conventional film, including spool film and multi-load cassettes, using various drying techniques
• •Select the correct Image Quality Indicator (IQI) and understand its application
• •Perform basic radiographic calculations, including geometric unsharpness
• •Conduct radiographic exposures using an X-ray tube
• •Review and evaluate radiographs in accordance with ASME requirements

The course includes 16 hours of hands-on training. Upon successful completion, participants will receive 16 total hours of accredited classroom training and a Classroom Certificate, with knowledge assessed through an exam.
