Advance your skills with Ultrasonic Shearwave Testing and take full control of real-world flaw detection. Train on the Epoch 650, perform DAC and TCG calibrations, and fine-tune instrument setup to accurately evaluate angled-beam responses. Through hands-on exercises, you’ll locate, size, and interpret shearwave indications such as cracks, lack of fusion, and other planar discontinuities, and translate your findings into clear, professional inspection reports. This course moves beyond basic detection—building the technical judgment and confidence required for Level II ultrasonic inspections in the field.

This 16-hour Ultrasonic Testing Level II (UT II – Shearwave) course delivers the advanced, confidence-building skills inspectors need to perform accurate angled-beam ultrasonic inspections in the field. Students gain extensive, hands-on experience using the Epoch 650, learning how instrument setup, transducer selection, wedge parameters, and calibration techniques directly impact shearwave inspection results. The course covers proper equipment setup, velocity and wedge delay calibration, sensitivity control, and the application of DAC and TCG calibration methods used in practical Level II ultrasonic testing. Through guided exercises, students perform shearwave flaw detection on a variety of components, developing the skills required to locate, evaluate, and size planar discontinuities. Training focuses on detecting and interpreting indications such as cracks, lack of fusion, incomplete penetration, and other weld-related flaws, while reinforcing correct sound path interpretation, flaw positioning, and evaluation techniques. Whether you completed an online UT course without receiving meaningful hands-on training or are refreshing your existing Level II shearwave skills, this course closes the gap between theory and field application. Emphasis is placed on accurate evaluation, documentation, and professional report completion, ensuring students leave with the practical experience, technical judgment, and confidence required to perform Ultrasonic shearwave inspections on the job.
